Discovered How Easy It Is To Break Into A Caravan!

We had decided to spend the whole of our summer break (6 weeks) in France this summer. The first week in the Jura, four weeks in provence and one week visiting friends in the Vendee. At the start of the second week in Provence our caravan was broken into while we had gone to the showers. They simply put something (bent wire?) between the window and the frame and moved the window fasteners to open the window. All this happened between 10.10 pm and 10.30 pm on a packed campsite, though it was dark by then and all campers in our 6 emplacement bay were indoors. They got away with laptop, my iphone, wallet, watch, Marj's diamond soliatire, day bag with passports, camera and binoculars. We were 'lucky' that they missed Marj's phone and her other bag which had a debit card that we didn't have to cancel, the stash of Euros buried in a locker and the fact that Marj's day bag didn't have the spare car keys in it! We almost packed up the next day and came home, but as friends from overseas were staying in our house, that was not an option. After the visit to the Gendarmerie the following morning, we decided to stay, and within a week our friends joined us and we soon began to relax and enjoy our hols again, but every time we went out we went security mad. It was interesting to show our friends how easy it was open his window (on the vent latches) with a straw!

It took just 20 minutes at UK border control to sort out the no passport problem.

We live and learn.

Awning Poles

Came back from Cromer early due to the very gusty high winds, stayed up most of one night thought the awning was a gonner.
Anyhow now we are back home am wondering about the ally poles, which are now mostly bowed. How do you straighten them up again? would the local plumber do it as he would a copper pipe?
Or have we to buy a new set?
Thanks Pop

Supermarket Fuel Vs Bp-Shell Etc.

Food for thought..... On our trip this year to wales on the outbound leg 250miles -Sainsburys juice- overall to Wales 26 mpg / light negligible wind...return journey home on Shell reg diesel ....over 29 mpg similar conditions . Since done the experiment again solo.. almost exactly the same improvement in mpg....49 vs 45 normally...... Thoughts ??
