Hello All, We have just bought our first caravan and are keen to start using it! We have a visit to Sheffield planned for a couple of weeks time and thought it might be a good opportunity. We've got the caravan site books out but there doesn't seem to be any close to Sheffield....?? Can anybody recommend a good site very close to Sheffield please?

Thanks for your help.

If you are in the Caravan Club there is the club site at Clumber Park which is a lovely area but about 40 minutes from Sheffield. It also depends on which part of Sheffield you are visiting. If you say which part you are visiting it might help to identify some sites.
Also there are some C Club CL,s in the Sheffield area.

Thank you Roger - I'm not a member of the caravan club but I probably will be very soon! We are visiting Sheffield with my daughter to view Hallam Uni. so I think that means the center of Sheffield and South West of teh centre where they have another campus and student accomodation.

Thanks

think you need to join one of the clubs - the CC have a CL, Sutton Hall Gardens, Sutton Scarsdale, near Chesterfield - not far off Jct 29 of the M1 and easy to get to Sheffield from there. it is an "adults only" site but with daughter looking at university, assume this wouldn't be a problem.

Not sure of the distance but my daughter spotted Eden Tree caravan and camping club site near the reservoirs.
Just texted to tell us about it.

Forgot about this site, which we stayed on when it first opened. There is a good rail service from Chesterfield to Sheffield which may be worth considering.
Also as Ivan suggests above, the CL he mentions is excellent.
There is a site in Worksop too, http://www.riversideworksop.co.uk/
I mention this site as its only a short walk to the station and trains to Sheffield run every 30 minutes to the centre of Sheffield, which take 30 minutes.
Sheffield is not the best place to drive in and out of.

There is also Chatsworth Park. A bit further to travel but what a location.

I'd suggest the Losehill CC site at Castleton. Excellent facilities & about 35/40 minutes run into Sheffield & you're on the right side of the city for the bulk of Hallam University.

Best run into Sheffield is turn left out of site. Left at 2nd set T lights(I think) run alongside reservoir, right on A57 past very good pub, Ladybower Inn! Follow A57 down into Sheffield, Manchester Road, bearing left onto Fullwood Road, follow that to the r/about, right down duel carriageway (signs A61) big r/about right again along Ecclesall Road, at lot of Hallam is off Ecclesall Road. There are other more direct ways but you'll need sat nav until you get the hang of the roads!

Both daughters attended Hallam and eldest still lives there. Great university, wonderful city! Good luck!
If you would like any more useless information about Hallam & Sheffield I'll do my best!!

If you were in the Caravan Club then Dearne Head Farm near Penistone is a nice CL site :) , (only takes 5 vans)
Its in a nice area, & an easy ride into Sheffield

There is also a Commercial site at Worsborough Greensprings Touring Park Rockley Abbey Farm, nearer to Barnsley than Sheffield but not too far away.
