Hi
We are off to Bunree for the first week of Easter. I have found plenty of recommendations of this site and know the area fairly well as a climber. Now I have a family I am considering whether it will be worth taking the bikes. My girls are 7.5 and 6 and although they can cycle I would want to be on quiet roads as my wife is not confident either. I have looked at the location and wonder what the roads are like by taking the Coran ferry crossing to the otherside of the Loch. Has anyone got advice?

Concur taking the Corran Ferry trip with bikes. It's a good job you are coming at Easter as the ferry is due to stop running for a few weeks later in the summer whilst essential repairs are done to the slipway. There is a debate (argument) going on between the local community and Highland Council when the best time to do the work is.
Another good relatively, flat ride is to come back South, with the car and bikes, the 3 miles to North Ballachulish and turn onto the B863 to Kinlochleven and park. Then cycle along the North side of Loch Leven towards Kinlochleven. This is the old road that was used before the Ballachulish Bridge was opened some 25+ years ago (the ferry was small and slow) and now is very quiet. You could do the full lap to Glencoe and then back over the bridge but this may be a long way for the family and it would involve a short stretch on the A82 between Glencoe and the bridge and I do not think there is a bike track alongside the road. Have a look on your drive up at this section.
Fort William hosted the world mountain bike championships in 2008 and a new cycle track was built from Fort William up to the turning for the Aonach Moor ski lift which might be of interest. There is also good cycling beside the Caledonian Canal from Corpach. Go South to Port Appin and take the bikes on the foot ferry to the island of Lismore. The roads are very quiet but a bit up and down, compensated for by the scenery.

Another easy safe cycle. Bikes on the roof and stop off at Glen Coe Village on the Invercoe side. Park at the Mountain Rescue Hut and Cycle to the Clachaig Hotel/Inn for a wee bite or something. Harry Potters The Prisoner of Azkabam across the road from the Hotel was filmed here at the foot of the Clachaig Gully. Remember if you are a Hawker or a Campbell don't bother going Inn !!http://www.caravantalk.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif Check out the Caravan Camping Club Site whilst your there. Its a lovely Site surrounded by Mountains and this time of year no dreaded Midgie. Far more Child friendly than Burnree http://www.caravantalk.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif !!!!
