Anyone got any?
I have bought a new Adria and would like to keep hold of it.
Apart from the obvious, wheel clamps and Hitch locks, are there any simple security measure you can take for example, on a motorbike simply putting a hefty padlock through a disk brake will slow thieves down, won't stop them lifting it into a van but stops them riding off.
Maybe fitting a switch that would isolate all the electrics so no lights work, making it more likely to get pulled over....... just a thought.
I like the idea of a hidden mobile phone (the wifes Orange Pay as you Go only requires 1 call every 6 months to keep the line activated and the credit has no expiration date, I'm sure this would still be available) as this may help to track the van if stolen

Don't put to much faith in the police stopping a caravan with no lights.
My caravan was stolen and recovered in another county and I had to go to collect it on a rainy, completely dark early morning. when I arrived at the storage yard I found that the number plate had been removed and when the 12N was connected there were no road lights but the indicators worked.
The recovery firm gave me a letter to inform the police that I was recovering a stolen caravan.
On the M1 a police car followed me for at least 10 miles and I thought "any minute now", but no, I reached my junction and thought that they would follow me off and stop me off the motorway, but again, no they carried straight on. It was, however, approaching 7am and their breakfast time!

That might be a little unfair. The police may have been on the radio checking out your caravan and may have been informed that you were expected! If this were true, then the police were acting very thoughtfully ;)

When my van is at home I chain it to a ground anchor concreted into drive, 2 different makes of wheel clamp, 2 leglocks (different makes) and alarm, plus I fit a euroclamp wheelclamp as a 3rd wheel clamp, which along with a wheelclamp on the car means it deters them slightly. When its in storage it has the same moveable items. Excessive maybe, but its alot of money sat there waiting for the light fingered brigade.
Had a look at tracking systems etc and had this discussion with Colger23 previously.

On my single axle van I have a rise and clamp wheel clamp, SAS clamp, Euro Clamp, hand brake lock, Alko lock, chain going through handle of alko stabiliser and under main tow bar part that the hitch gets bolted too, soon to be a security hitch post, soon to be a mobile phone tracker, a note in the window in big typing saying "If this caravan is being towed it has been stolen. Please call the police" and I am also going to put the vin number on the van roof in number plate stickers. And before anyone replies back yes you can still buy number plate stickers from Towsure!
The storage yard is very secure as well but not CASSOA registered :(
